Mod scooter dress (outfit #18)

This is my 1960s mod dress with peter pan collar, purchased from ebay.  My headband and wire starburst clip-on earrings are from an estate sale.  My leather biker boots are thrifted.

Kitchen chair revamp

Today I replaced the fabric on my Danish Modern Craigslist chairs.  The chairs had a cream brocade fabric on them that was looking rather sad and grubby.  I switched it out for some Amy Butler fabric from the August Fields line.  It has a repeating pattern with mint, gray, and butter yellow.  Mint green is my current obsession thanks to my birthday rotary phone.
What do you think?

Labor Day barbecue dress (outfit #17)

This is my 1960s green plaid house dress and matching belt, that I scored at an estate sale.  The 1950s mint green apron with heart pocket was purchased from an antique store.  My lipstick is Revlon's Blase' Apricot, a color that first premiered in 1962 and is still available today.

Peachy picnic dress (outfit #16)

This is my 1950s, L'aiglon brand, novelty fruit print dress.  It has a peach, grape, and pear motif that is just too sweet for words.  This came from Huckleberry Vintage, an etsy store that no longer exists.  My 1940s beaded handbag came from ebay.

Kissy face

Recently while searching the interwebs, I came across one of the original ads for the Revlon lipstick color, "Cherries in the snow."  I had mentioned this lipstick in an earlier post, while talking about true vintage colors that were still on the market today.  This got me searching for other brands that still carried original color lines from the 30s-60s.  While I couldn't find another list anywhere, I learned that brands like Elizabeth Arden, Max Factor, Maybellline, Revlon, and Cover Girl (in the 60s) had entered the cosmetics markets.  It's really interesting to see the progression of makeup styles, including lip shape and popular colors.  Here is a brief rundown...

Going to the chapel (outfit #15)

This is my 1960s, empire waist dress with puff bell sleeves.  I inherited this dress from a dear friend.  My clip-on coral earrings, beaded handbag, and white gloves came from thrift and estate sales.
